2016 Fall Newsletter and Meeting Notice
A BCSC General Membership Meeting will be held on Monday, September 19 at 7PM – please plan to attend and share your thoughts with the Board of Directors – there are always news items concerning the club that will be shared at the meeting
The Shoot for a Cure Breast Cancer Shoot will be held on October 1st – all proceeds donated to Ribbon of Hope – a local assistance organization. The event will be 50 Trap targets @ 16 Yds. & 50 Skeet targets. Individuals may shoot one or both events, and re-shoot each event as often as they wish. The Lewis Class System with divisions for men and women will be used for this event.
The event will include a special raffle for a pink Ruger handgun and various bucket raffles – we are looking for donations of items that could be used in bucket raffles or for members to bring in donations from outside sources. If you are able to donate or obtain a donation, it can be dropped off at the club with your name and information and the donors so we can acknowledge donors.
Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Please plan to attend this event to raise money for Ribbon of Hope. Volunteers needed to help load targets, keep score and help with the event. Your donated skill and time is always greatly appreciated by the club.
Saturday, September 24th is Fall Clean-Up Day at the club grounds. We have a number of projects that could use a helping hand as we ready the grounds for winter. Bring a rake or broom and help us tidy up the grounds before the fall weather sets in. This is a great opportunity to come out and get to know some of your fellow club members. Lunch will be served to those helping. Thank you!!
The club is in need of volunteers to help maintain the grounds – lawn mowing using the clubs riding mowers and some trimming are the required tasks. The club also needs volunteers to bring targets to the trap houses. If you have the time, ability to run lawn equipment and would like to assist with any of these tasks, please contact Mike Salemi @ 920-621-3944 or Mike Lewis at 920-619-0068.
Would you be interested in seeing a sporting goods or shooting related swap meet at the club? This could be held in conjunction with a shoot or possibly as a separate event complete with refreshments as a club fund raiser. Bring your thoughts and ideas to the club on the 19th for an open discussion.
“Thought You Should Know”: The club recently hosted the Wisconsin State Skeet Championships on August 26th – 28th. The shoot was a success with 58 registered shooters attending from across the area. A total of 948 rounds of skeet were shot with a total number of 23,700 targets thrown! The shoot results can be viewed by logging on to the NSSA website or the weekly Target Talk link to the NSSA scoreboard. The club would like to send a special thanks to all those that volunteered to keep events moving and on schedule.
Interested in serving on the Brown County Sportsmen’s Club Board of Directors? A number of Board Member positions are up for election at this year’s December General Meeting. If you wish to know more about what a board member position is all about, leave a message on the club’s website or contact a current board member for more information.
As fall arrives, remember that the club is a great place to bring the family. There are picnic tables, a lake for fishing and the property is a great place for a walk around the lake or in the woods to see some wildlife. These are things that can be enjoyed by members when shooting is not actively scheduled. The club grounds can be a great place to bring the kids for an afternoon of fishing and activities other than shooting.
See You There!!
