“Armed Women of America” (AWA) learn to shoot shotgun sports at BCSC.

Ridge Johansen, Barb Ernst Muehlethaler, and Matt Ernst recently met and provided basic wing-shooting training to women from a local Green Bay Chapter of “Armed Women of America.”

Barb is also a member of AWA and was asked to consider putting together some training for interested women, who have never had training on the difference between shotgun & handgun shooting.

Thank you Matt & Ridge for being instrumental in this effort!

They met with AWA on July 29 and plan to meet again in August.

The training covered the different types of shotguns, safety, stance, gun mount, and basic wing-shooting techniques. The women were able to apply the learning while practicing on trap and skeet fields.

They did very well and everyone had a safe, enjoyable evening!

For those of you who are not familiar with AWA, here is some information about them:

AWA’s MISSION

Armed Women of America (AWA) exists to enable women to be their own self-protectors, creating freedom, peace of mind and confidence in themselves.

The meetings offer classroom and range time, all under the guidance of certified women instructors (and the Green Bay chapter is privileged to also be instructed by GB Law Enforcement officers) who volunteer their time.

Armed Women of America provides a safe and comfortable environment for women to gather, learn, train, and discuss issues important to women gun owners.

Summer League 5- Stand

Brown County Sportsmen’s Club still has openings for 5-Stand League. Contact Ridge Johansen for Details or Visit the Website. Official League Night is Thursday but shoot when you want and submit your scores.

Contact: Ridge Johansen for details to sign up. Contact@skeetandtrap.com or Messager club on Facebook.

Summer Leagues Start in May

Summer Leagues will be starting soon. Please plan on getting your existing team team signed up or forming a new team if you are not currently shooting in a League. The League offers the opportunity to compete with you fellow shooters and socialize after shooting. The Leagues are setup based on the shooter’s ability that allow you to complete against people with similar ability/skills. If you need help setting up a team or finding a team the League Managers can help or contact Ridge Johansen at 920-562-4179.

Consider the Ironman and the 5-Stand Leagues as ways to develop new skills and to prepare for the Fall Hunting Season. Looking forward to seeing you shooting this summer. Contact Ridge Johansen at 920-562-4179, if you have questions on either of these Two Leagues.
